February 2026: catching up, celebrating love, and being very very very active
2026-03-02
February was a month of catching up with friends, celebrating love, and being very very active.
Snoqualmie GM and Skiing
I started the month in Seattle, skiing at Snoqualmie — and had the privilege of meeting Guy Lawrence, the GM of The Summit at Snoqualmie. We chatted about his career, learning to ski as an adult, and the nitty gritty of running a ski resort. Our discussion gave me a lot to think about: the operational rigor and capital allocation questions inherent in building a joyful, profitable, and sustainable ski mountain, as well as the sheer challenge of variable demand based on weather and staffing a seasonal business.
It was also a callback to one of the best classes I took at Wharton — The Business of Water — applied in real life, as Snoqualmie navigates permitting, water rights, climate change and snow making. I skiied at Snoqualmie and Crystal Mountain in WA, thanks to the generous support of She Jumps (shejumps.org) and the Ikon Pass I have via this incredible organization.
Two weeks in New York
Then: two weeks in New York, bookended by celebrating my favorite people. My brother got engaged to his longtime girlfriend — proving that you CAN find love at UChicago. My best friend from UChicago (who I followed to Wharton) got married. It was special to see the love my brother and his fiancee are surrounded by and meet many of their friends who I have heard much about.
In between, I spent time in the city catching up with friends from undergrad, high school, business school, past jobs, and my family friends and cousins. I loved starting Valentines Day at Radio Bakery, spending it skiing in upstate NY at Catamound, and ending the day watching Team USA Highlights with my friends.
Three years out of business school, I — and so many of my friends — are at a point of reflection and re-evaluation. Catching up with so many friends reiterated to me how universal the experience of re-thinking what we want from our jobs, cities, relationships is. The pull of being near family and finding joy at work is stronger now. We've been back in the real world long enough to know what we actually want from it.
Most active month in recent memory
February was also my most active month in recent memory. Spurred by my Q1 Bingo, I was inspired and motivated to walk to new parks, go swimming, make plans to ski. I ended the month having been active every single day.
It brought me back to Managerial Decision Making with Katy Milkman at Wharton — we went deep into habit formation, and what actually makes behavior stick. My two-week lifting streak in Williamsburg was very much sustained by knowing my cousin would be there every morning waiting for me.
How the month ended
The month ended strong: a large group dinner at my favorite restaurant in Seattle, Homer, to celebrate my friend Hannah's return from her sabbatical; a day-trip to Bainbridge Island with Hannah — ferry ride, long walk, incredible italian food at Via Rosa 11; and a Seattle Torrent PWHL game featuring FOUR Team USA Olympians, including Hillary Knight!
I feel beyond lucky for the community I have on both coasts.
March is about continuing to be intentional with my time
Getting back on my bike and back into Seattle's public pools, after too much time away from both. And DEFINITELY getting to see the tulips in the Skagit Valley — I love the expanse of color..
